AMERICAN JEWISH WORLD SERVICES
Join American Jewish World Service’s study tour in Peru. Peru is a traveler's paradise, with mystical archaeological sites, the dazzling diversity of the rainforest and remote indigenous cultures. AJWS will take you behind the tourist façade, to rural villages and centers of urban activism, revealing a vibrant activist community working to revitalize and empower the urban and rural poor. We will begin in the culturally rich capital Lima, visiting AJWS project partners working on child welfare, HIV/AIDS education and defense of gender equity and human rights. From there we will fly to Iquitos, the gateway to the Amazon and the home of the famed "Lost Jewish Communities" of Peru. We will wind up the Amazon River and meet locals who will share their innovative approaches to fair trade commerce, sustainable agriculture and grassroots development. Our time in Peru will culminate with Shabbat in Lima, spending time with traditional peoples bridging old worlds and new. Click here to learn more
