experience. We are a non-profit volunteer organization offering
short term placements working with international social projects
in developing countries around the World. Currently we have
program in Chile, Peru, Ecuador and now Uganda providing vital
social support to low income communities in areas of orphanage
assistance, HIV/Aids prevention and education, teaching English
programs, woman empowerment, healthcare projects, conservation
and more. A Broader View volunteer program is for anyone
searching for a meaningful, enriching, life-changing experience

AmeriSpan Study Abroad was created in 1993 by and for lovers of
language immersion, study abroad and cultures. Starting as a
two person operation with a passion for travel, we have grown
to be a leader in educational travel and Study Abroad with over
28,000 clients. We offer volunteer programs for participants of
all ages and nationalities, in most countries in Latin America
and various in Europe, Africa and Asia. We have grouped our
projects in different categories: Social (Community Service),

American Friends of Kenya

American Friends of Kenya (AFK) is a grass roots, all volunteer
organization that promotes public health, library development,
and education and literacy in the poorest regions of Kenya. We
send shipments of desperately needed supplies, support family
based orphan care program, work closely with the only free
primary school for girls and women’s clinic in Kenya’s largest
slum, and assist a national program of HIV/AIDS counseling and
prevention. Each summer, we also sponsor a two week volunteer
tripfor teams of medical, library, and educational professionals
as well as others who want to contribute their time and talents.

Greenheart Travel's Volunteer Abroad programs offer a unique and

Cosmic Volunteers is a

Volunteers sends hundreds of volunteers abroad each year to
volunteer at schools, hospitals, newspapers, orphanages,

We strive to offer the

Founded in 1993 by Baby
Boomer Rick Lathrop during his mid-career transition, Global
Service Corps (GSC) was envisioned as a "mini-Peace
Corps" experience for fellow Baby Boomers. Since then, it
has grown to include programs for students and recent grads in
five different countries. Presently, GSC offers short- and
long-term volunteer and internship service-learning
opportunities for adults in Tanzania and Thailand. GSC
volunteer participants are all trained to become trainers of
local community members in one or more of the following areas:
HIV/AIDS prevention, sustainable agriculture food security,
nutrition, and English as a Second Language (ESL). GSC also
provides programs in youth AIDS prevention camps, Buddhist
immersion and international health. All GSC participants have
the unique opportunity to live in homestays to participate in a
true cultural immersion experience.

Vision International (GVI) was formed in 1998 to provide
support and services to international charities, non-profits

Global Volunteers is a
private, nonprofit, non-sectarian international human and
economic development organization founded in 1984 in St. Paul,
Minn. Mobilizing teams of short-term volunteers year-around to

work project funding and child sponsorships. Projects range

Briefly, we run the DRIVE scheme
(Discover Rural India for a Valuable Experience) which gives
people from the west the opportunity to learn a little about
rural life and development work by staying in a project which
is based in a village. Project visitors spend three weeks
there, adjusting to the different way of life and getting used
to Indian toilets, food, dress, travel etc. There are also some
opportunities to assist in a small way in the primary school or
the college, teaching English or organising games.

Empowering people with disabilities
around the world to achieve their human rights through
international exchange and international development, MIUSA's
international exchange programs last from 2-4 weeks and are
held throughout the year in the US and abroad. MIUSA has worked
with people with and without disabilities from more than 80
countries. Activities include living with homestay families,
leadership seminars, disability rights workshops,
cross-cultural learning, and teambuilding activities such as
river rafting and challenge courses. Participants develop
strategies for making changes, both within themselves and in

Founded on March 1, 1961 during
the administration of President John F. Kennedy, the Peace
Corps is an international volunteer organization of the U.S.
government. Since its founding the Peace Corps has had over
187,000 volunteers serve in more than 139 countries.
Volunteers work on projects ranging from small business
development to Aids education and environmental preservation.
There is no upper age limit to serve in the Peace Corps and
volunteers in their eighties are currently serving.
Approximately 6 percent of volunteers are over 50. The Peace

CUSO-VSO is the North American member of the VSO (Voluntary
Service Overseas) Federation, an international development
organization that works through volunteers. We promote
volunteering to fight poverty and disadvantage, bringing people
from different cultures together to share skills, creativity and
learning to build a fairer world.
Since 1958, more than 40,000 volunteers have shared their skills
overseas through CUSO and VSO (now CUSO-VSO), working in the
areas of education, HIV and AIDS, disability, health and social
well-being, sustainable livelihoods, and participation and
governance.
Each year, CUSO-VSO recruits experienced volunteers from Canada
and the United States to fill placements that are usually 1 or 2
years in length. Many of our volunteers are over 50 – in fact,
the average age of our volunteers is around 40 years old!
Volunteers receive a comprehensive training and support package

Women in Progress works to
achieve economic independence of women and alleviate poverty at
a grassroots level in Ghana, West Africa through the
sustainable growth of small women-owned businesses. As an
international volunteer organization, we combine meaningful
international volunteer programs with valuable volunteer
assignments that help African women gain economic independence.
Through short-term "volunteer vacations",
participants are able to use their skills to help others and
make a difference in the future of women and their families in
