Teaching

WorldTeach

www.worldteach.org
WorldTeach provides opportunities for volunteers to teach in developing countries, making a meaningful contribution to schools and communities that are in great need of teachers. Most volunteers teach English, and students range in age depending on the placement. In some countries, volunteers may also teach math, science, computer skills, or HIV/AIDS awareness. Volunteers work as full-time teachers, as employees of their host school or sponsoring institution in their placement country. Most volunteers live with a host family or on the school campus, and participate fully in the life of their host community. WorldTeach year programs are 10-12 months in length, and the summer programs are about two months in length. There are programs in a variety of countries around the world. GeoVisions

Join GeoVisions’ Conversation Corps and live with a family and teach them conversational English up to 15 hours each week. Want something more exciting? Become a GeoVisions Conversation Partner. You can help tour guides, importers and exporters, and even work with Tourist Police with their English. It’s fun and it’s exciting to learn about a new culture just by talking and to experience first-hand what it’s like to work and live in the country of your choice. The Conversation Corps and Conversation Projects are available in 18 different countries. And some accept couples.

For those that prefer a more “traditional” teaching program, GeoVisions offers programs in schools, helping with the classroom as well as teaching. Programs can be one month or more.

Travel to Teach

www.travel-to-teach.org
Founded by volunteers in 2002 in Nong Khai Thailand, Travel to Teach is a non-profit making organisation that links volunteers of all ages from all over the world with grassroots community projects in the developing world. Travel to Teach was founded in opposition to the large western corporations who use volunteering to make a profit. The Travel to Teach team felt that by actually basing themselves in a developing country they could keep costs down and offer moderate fees, whilst creating opportunities to volunteer skills and contribute to local communities. By doing this they also felt that they could maintain a closer contact with the visiting volunteers, the local people, and the projects.
