Hello All:
I have been thinking, deeply, about what I should write in this newsletter introduction. On the downside, the current international events: war, famine, and the conduct of selfish politicians, make one seriously wonder about the future of civilization. On the upside, as international travelers and volunteers, we have the opportunity to interact with individuals and communities and to share our skills and experiences and our determination to make the world a better place (Volunteer Opportunities). I know, from my experience as a Peace Corps volunteer, a United Nations Volunteer (UNV) and working with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) -(About)- that the majority of people in the world have the same goals. We want financial security for our families, education for our children and the ability to live in peace.
In this newsletter, we have articles about solo travel tips for saving money on travel, opportunities to interact with animals as a traveler or volunteer, over 50 travelers who are taking bicycle vacations, and an 89 year-old woman who continues to travel the world, solo!
Enjoy the newsletter.
Happy Volunteering!

(I worked closely with UNHCR when managing camps for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Afghanistan and am a great admirer of their work.) UNHCR
