Global Volunteers is a private, nonprofit, non-sectarian international human and economic development organization founded in 1984 in St. Paul, Minn.

Mobilizing teams of short-term volunteers year-around to assist on long-term local projects, Global Volunteers supports host communities in 19 countries on six continents with programs focused on at-risk children and their families, direct work project funding and child sponsorships.

Projects range from one to three weeks and include teaching conversational English, caring for at-risk children, constructing community buildings and public health care assistance.

Global Volunteers is in consultative status with the United Nations ECOSOC and works in partnership with more than 200 local organizations worldwide.
