Beginning International Volunteering Over 50

When we first start thinking about devoting some of our time to international volunteering we usually don’t have any idea of where to start.  We might have talked to a friend who just returned from an inspiring volunteer assignment.  We could also have been motivated by reading an article about humanitarian problems in the world and how volunteers are helping to solve them.  But how do we start to pursue our interest?

I have recently written an article for the Huffington Post, that addresses the “how do we start?” problem. Among the topics discussed are, how to begin, contacting international volunteer placement organizations, short and long-term volunteer assignments, family considerations, etc.
