Jill Vickers

Jill Vickers is a producer of film documentaries and also a former Peace Corps Volunteer. Jill was a member of a Peace Corps female vaccination teams in the late 1960’s in Afghanistan. The women traveled throughout the country working with Afghan male vaccinators on a small pox vaccination program done in conjunction with the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO). Jill produced a deeply interesting and evocative documentary, “Once in Afghanistan”, a film in which she interviews many of the women who served on the pioneering and very effective teams.

John was over 50 when he joined the Peace Corps. His service in Guatemala led to work as a United Nations Volunteer in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the Bosnian War. He has since worked or volunteered in 12 other countries. A particular highlight of his international work was managing camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in 2002 in Herat, Afghanistan. Development work in Kandahar, Afghanistan also stands out. He has traveled to 53 countries in total and continues to both travel and volunteer internationally.
